Do you have what it takes to be a Scream at the Beach Monster? We're looking for volunteers to help with our 2007 season. Volunteering here is a lot of fun and a great opportunity to learn behind-the-scene theatrical techniques and meet new people while exploring your “darker side!” As an associate, you may qualify for free admission for family members, and an invitation-only post-season Monster Cast Party.
Overview
You must be at least 18 years old, or 16 -18 with parental consent. Anyone who is unable to remain in position or who lacks the ability to remain in character is kindly asked not to return. We take our role as performers seriously!
We want monsters who are dependable, outgoing and enthusiastic, who are able to perform in very dark environments, who like to work with people and love Halloween. If you also have a special talent or look, that's even better! Experience is not necessary; we'll teach you everything you'll need to know in our Monster College beginning on September 8th.
There are many opportunities available. We will conduct tours beginning Thursday, October 4th with our "sneak preview" for our families and friends, invited guests and the media, and then to the general public on October 5th-6th, 11th-13th, and 18th-31st. That's a total of 20 days. You may volunteer for selected nights or the entire season.
You will need to arrive at Scream at the Beach by 5:00 pm if you can, but no later than 6:00 pm, and plan to stay until our last guest leaves. This will be approximately 10:30 pm week nights or 11:30 pm weekends early on, and near the end of the month this will very likely be past midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Please do not sign up for a night if you can only stay an hour or two. We need for you to stay for the entire evening each night that you sign up.
OPENING ROUTINE
5:00-6:00 - Check in, receive your role assignment, get into costumes and makeup, eat free pizza.
6:00-6:15 - Listen to announcements, receive awards for the best actors from the night before.
6:15-6:45 - Finish getting into costume and makeup, and then go directly to your assigned attraction. Check in with your Attraction Manager. Check your area for safety issues. Rehearse.
6:45 - Be in position, ready to open. Your Manager will do a quick run through to check that everyone is ready.
7:00 - Attractions Open.
We will take rest breaks on a rotation schedule, so the tours will not have to stop. Water bottles and flashlights (one per person) will be given to you on the first night you arrive, along with other materials in your welcome packet. You will find ice water to refill your water bottles in your attraction's break area. You may also bring your own sack lunch or snacks and place it in our refrigerator. We also have a microwave if needed.
