Are your attractions open if it rains?
Absolutely! Lines and activities are indoors or under cover. The exception to this is on the weekends or near the end of the month when the attraction lines gets really long. Actually rainy nights are some of the best nights to go because fewer people go out during inclement weather, meaning shorter lines for you. Bring an umbrella on weekends or the last three nights of the month if you think it is going to rain, just to be safe.Return to top

Where do I park?
The Jantzen Beach SuperCenter has ample free parking for all of our guests. Please use caution and watch children around moving cars. We recommend carpooling whenever possible. Park in front of the entrance to Scream at the Beach, between Toys 'R' Us and Michael's Arts and Crafts and follow the sound of the screams. Return to top

Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and debit cards at the ticket windows, or you may also purchase tickets online on our website using your Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. Return to top

Can I take pictures?
Yes, by all means, bring your cameras! There are many opportunities for picture taking in front of funny photo opportunity backdrops and with our roaming monster characters. We only ask that you do not take pictures inside the attractions. The spirits do not react well to bright lights...it not only hurts their eyes, but ruins the experience for others and may cause damage to sensitive equipment used for security purposes. Return to top

Are there places where I can leave my coat, camera or umbrella?
We recommend that you leave any items you do not wish to carry in your car. Return to top

What are the busiest and least busy times of the day / season?
Naturally the weekends, especially near the end of the month are the busiest times. For the shortest lines we suggest you arrive early in the month or visit on a weeknight. And on the night you plan to scream with us, arrive at or soon after our opening time so you are one of the first in line. Return to top

Where can I get a discount coupon?
You can pick up a coupon for $2 off the regular admission price per attraction from participating Jantzen Beach SuperCenter stores and vendors. PLEASE NOTE: Discount coupons are NOT needed for the Screamer Special. The coupons take $2 off the regular price of admission ($8.00), making your per-attraction price only $6. But for the Screamer Special, which includes admission to all four of our attractions, your cost is only $5 each (or $20 total), the best deal of all. Return to top

Do you sell food and beverages at your event?
We have selections of snacks, sodas and water at our Concession Stands. Plus, the food court area in the center of the mall offers a delicious selection of gruesome delights! Return to top

Do you offer group discounts?
We sure do! For-profit and non-profit, social and community groups and organizations enjoy special discounts. See our Tickets page for details. Return to top

Can I buy the RIP passes online?
Because a wrist band is involved, it is not possible to purchase these online. However, you do not need to stand in long ticket lines either. Go directly to the Will Call Window on the night you wish to tour and we'll speed your entry to the event. Return to top

Can we win free tickets?
Sign up to be a member of our Monster Fan Club. Every day in October that we are open someone who registers will win a family pack of tickets to all of our attractions (good for four people). You could be that winner! Winners are notified by email, and tickets can be picked up at the ticket counter. One entry per person please. Return to top

How long will it take me to experience Scream at the Beach?
The time you spend may vary depending on the day of the week you come (weekends are usually busier), waiting times, and how many different attractions you choose to visit. If you visit just one attraction your visit will be short, perhaps one half hour. To tour all of the attractions may take at least a couple of hours. Add time to take pictures, visit with monster characters and a session with the Tarot Card Reader and you'll have enough activities to keep you busy screaming for the entire evening. Return to top

Do you offer foreign language assistance?
Yes. Assistance for Spanish, French and Catalan speaking guests is available. Inquire by asking any of our hosts when you arrive. Return to top

How should I dress?
While our policy states that no actors/monsters will touch you, we cannot extend that guarantee when it comes to our array of flesh eating slugs, bats or ravenous rats. (Don't worry though, the rats don't eat much and the slug slime is nontoxic and does not stain clothes.) You may also get a little wet from the drooling monsters and people have been known to wet their own pants in these kinds of attractions. Therefore, we suggest that you wear comfortable clothing and shoes, and leave that expensive chiffon wedding outfit at home! Return to top

Do you have a lost and found?
Yes, we have to. With so many people jostling about to get away from the monsters, things just naturally go flying. We've tracked down and returned just about everything including sweaters, wallets, cell phones and jewelery. Please notify any of our security or guest relations hosts as soon as possible and they will make an immediate search for you. Our lost and found is located at the Security Window in our main lobby. If you do not discover your loss until after you have left the event site, call 503-680-8238 for assistance. Return to top

I want to do a story on Scream at the Beach. Who do I call?
Call Henry Miller at 503-680-8238, or write to him at henry@screamatthebeach.com. See also some of our online media resources. Return to top

Where can we meet Monster Characters?
The Monster Characters make frequent appearances throughout the Scream at the Beach event. For information on where to find specific characters, ask any of our costumed guest relations host or hostesses. Our monsters are happy to pose with you for pictures. Return to top

Is it scary?
YES! Check our "wet pants count" on the main page, or ask a cast member about our guests who have lost their dinners. Our haunted attractions are some of the best you'll find anywhere. The detail and effects are top notch but still a haunted house will only be as scary as you want it to be. In other words go in with an attitude for fun and it will be. Return to top

Is it healthy to get scared?
Do you enjoy scary movies? Haunted attractions are just like the movies but here you are in the middle of the action. Yes, you will get scared, but in the end it's all fun and you'll come out screaming AND laughing at the same time (now that's scary)! Most everyone enjoys talking about their experience, recounting stories of how high so-and-so jumped, and who lost their shoes in the frenzy to escape the monsters. Return to top

What's the main difference between each attraction and which one is the best?
Each attraction is a unique experience, offering something special that will appeal to most people. But one attraction's highlight may be a hit for one person, while a different attraction may be "the best" to someone else. We recommend that you take advantage of the Screamer Special and visit all of our attractions. You can even spread out the fun over a couple of nights by visiting two attractions one night, and then come back on another to see two more. Return to top

Are the attractions the same each year?
This is our seventh year, and we have not had an exact duplicate attraction yet. Similar popular themes may reappear, but the attractions are always redesigned and rebuilt with new features and surprises, so it's always new even to our repeat guests. Return to top

What if I have health problems (e.g. heart, asthma, etc), am pregnant, on medication or have been drinking/using drugs?
We advise discretion. We use artificial fog that may cause a reaction to asthmatics that are sensitive to this environment. The scares inside will raise your heart rate and blood pressure, and we use strobe lights which may trigger an epileptic response to those prone to seizure.

We don’t want any of our guests to feel excluded though, so we will make every effort to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable time. If you are unsure about your health, but wish to take the tour anyway, we’ll be happy to provide an escort for you who can assist you if needed.Click Me!

If you are intoxicated, we will not allow you to enter for your own safety and ours. If we believe you are under the influence of drugs, we may not allow you to enter as well. However, your ticket will be good for another time when you are in better condition. And if you feel the need to challenge our decision, a police officer will be made available to assist you. Return to top

Can we be injured at your event?
We've never had any reports of serious injuries at our event. Our monsters are always on the prowl to keep things safe for you. Fire extinguishers are located at every emergency exit, along with an overhead sprinkler system and emergency lighting. All Guest Services personnel have radios and can call 911 if needed. As you tour our attractions you will find an emergency exit and hallway that leads with signs to the exterior of the building about every 50 feet. We also work with our local fire marshal, and comply with safety design requirements. The occasional bumps on the head that occur are most often caused by guests running into other members of their own group as they scream and duck to avoid the attacking monsters. Return to top

Does your event have security?
Our event has a fully trained Security and Guest Services staff that helps to keep things running smoothly. We seldom, if ever, have a problem that actually requires security but we have our team just in case. They spend most of their time serving as hosts to make your visit more pleasant. Return to top

Will the actors touch us?
Not intentionally. Our actors are trained not to touch any guest for any reason. They will try to make you scream and squirm, but you will not be touched by any monsters on purpose. (The exception to this rule is with our rats, bats and spiders which we cannot control!) Return to top

What if I arrive too late to see all the attractions?
Our monsters can only feed for so long, so be sure to arrive early if you want to see everything in one evening, or save any unused tickets for another night of scary fun. Return to top

Can I wear costumes or masks?
Costumes are okay, but masks are not allowed for the safety of our monsters and guests. Return to top

Ok, I could not make it through... Do I get my $$ back?
Our policy is no refunds for lost, stolen or unused tickets. Tickets are not dated and can be used for admission on any night we are open. Return to top

Can we be thrown out of the event?
YES! Scream at the Beach is designed to be a positive, safe, fun place. We do not permit inappropriate language or behavior, weapons of any kind, alcohol, etc. These guidelines are for your own safety. Persons who are asked to leave for inappropriate conduct do not receive a refund. Return to top

Can I bring my children to Scream at the Beach?
While startling surprises occur throughout these adventures, Scream at the Beach lacks the usual gore associated with many haunted attractions, providing a quality experience instead of shock to entertain. Scream at the Beach is appropriate for every age level except for only the most impressionable children. Use your own discretion if you choose to allow your children to enter. If you want to bring younger children to Scream at the Beach, be sure your child knows the difference between fantasy and reality. All children (and adults!) have different "scare" tolerances, and you know your child best. Keep in mind this is SCARY entertainment! Return to top

Are there discounts for children?
Our Screamer Special is $20 for all ages. Under age 6 is free (but we don't recommend it). Our haunted attractions are designed to be intense thrilling experiences and are not recommended for especially sensitive children. Return to top

What about lost children?
We've never lost a child to a monster (but we're still trying). Our Guest Services hosts will be happy to assist you in tracking down lost children. Return to top

Are there special activities for children?
For especially sensitive children (and some adults!), Scream at the Beach offers free shows in Monster Theater, and not-so-scary characters who will pose for group photos and interact with children. There's also a funhouse in the CarnEvil that offers some unique fun, and the mall has a historic carousel that's not to be missed. Return to top

Where can we find information for Guests with disabilities?Click Me!
All of our attractions, shows, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Contact any one of our helpful hosts for additional information and if you would like an escort through any of our attractions. Close-in parking is available for the disabled.Return to top
