PORTLAND OREGON - Police and animal handlers from the Portland Zoo had to be called in to subdue a creature that had several dignitaries trapped in a castle who were there to view the progress of an excavation project.
The creature, described as dark, slimy, and covered with tentacles, kept leaping at one of the foreman who was there conducting the tour and who tried to chase it away with a shovel.
"For such a small slime ball, it sure had a lot of strength," laughed the foreman. "It took four men and a lot of nets to capture it and return it to the swamp. We were never in any real danger…it was probably just looking for food."
When asked what the creature ate, the foreman admitted he didn't know and that it could be people, retracting his former statement about their safety.
"We've seen lots of creatures in the swamp, and this one was one of the small ones. I'm just glad it wasn't one of the big ones!"
The crew promised to install a motion detector at the entrance to the castle and keep electronic safety devices handy on future tours.
