Scream at the Beach is Now Open

Scream at the Beach, the local "place to be" in October, opened on Friday, October 2nd, at the Jantzen Beach Center, in Portland.

Ranked as the "Number 3 Haunt" in the nation by AOL, this frightening Halloween event has returned for their 9th year to the Center. They have also driven stakes...so to speak...in a new location: the former Circuit City building, plus two retail stores next door, making the total size of the event over 60,000 sq. ft. That's big. Really big. And it doesn't include the space for the Carnival rides or concessions outside!

The producer of Scream at the Beach once jokingly suggested to mall management that he was going to turn the mall property back into an amusement park someday. And although this will probably not happen on a permanent basis, for at least one month out of the year and in a portion of the mall, it has become a reality. Business picks up for everyone on the island once the event opens, making supporters of all business owners on Hayden Island.
