September 13th may be considered unlucky for some, but for us monsters it marked the beginning of the fun in 2003 at Scream at the Beach. Weekly training sessions will occur each Saturday up to the opening of this event on October 3rd: a special sneak preview night for media, invited friends, family and VIP's. The general public tours begin on the following night, Saturday October 4th.
Monsters receive instructions during rehearsals on haunted house safety, guest relations, and techniques for producing fear without getting clobbered. Ongoing rehearsals will concentrate on individual roles for each of the five attractions and familiarize cast members with the layout of the event, their duties and the expectations by the producers for this event.
As a "monster" you will be the cause in the attractions for screams of terror, as well as in the reception area where you will both menace and pose with guests for pictures. Plus, we will provide you with free VIP passes, and loads of coupons and posters to share with friends and to post at school, work and around town.
And when the season ends you will be invited to attend the Monster Awards Banquet, a fancy dinner followed by a ceremony where we will choose the recipients for the "best of" categories and give out special awards.
Each season our guest attendance doubles as the word spreads about the quality of the thrills at Scream at the Beach. Our family of monsters continues to grow too, with over 80 people involved in 2002 and more to crawl out of the shadows in 2003. We have a lot of fun at this event and the rewards are instantaneous as people scream in reaction to our antics, but we also take our work very seriously. You might say it's "serious fun."
One more reason to join us: you will be helping to raise funds for the American Red Cross, our charity recipient for 2003. In addition to a blood drive where the Phlebotomists drawing the blood will be dressed as vampires, we'll be donating a portion of our proceeds to the local chapter. Your participation in this event will help us in this effort.
Anyone who is at least 16 years old and enjoys scaring people may request to join the cast. We also suggest that you encourage your friends to join you as monsters so you'll have fun stories to recall together for years to come. Families are also encouraged to come and "scream as one."
Please complete the online Monster Application before attending your first training session.
